I am going to try to post some of the highlights of our California trip. Blogger makes it so difficult to upload pictures with the slow process and many errors. I will have a part 2 of iphone and my camera pictures. These are from our SLR.
We went for Dosokai, the Japanese Adoptive Families Reunion and then spent the following week seeing friends, enjoying some of our favorite places and going to Disneyland. We had a banner week and loved everything. The kids were awesome and Seth traveled the best he ever did. We loved meeting new friends (who felt like forever friends/family) and reminscing about when we lived in CA and sharing memories with our children.
Our flights were smooth except for on the trip out a 3 hour delay on the plane in Dallas due to thunderstorms and a tire change. The kids were champs and we missed our Friday night dinner for our reunion, but still got to spend some time with dear friends. The hotel was great and close to Disney with Starbucks in the lobby. We loved our character breakfast with our new friends and Goofy, Chip and Dale and Princesses. We spent the rest of the day at California Adventures, the new(er) park in Disney, since our last visit 10 years ago. It was super fun and due to the jet lag, we even got a double nap in the double stroller. That only happens once a year, if that, since Savannah no longer naps--only with a time change or a long car or plane trip. So, Mommy and Daddy almost got to enjoy an dinner with adult conversation, no dropping crayons or cutting breading off chicken fingers.
On Sunday and Monday we experienced some "May Grey" along with some cooler temperatures and sprinkles of rain. My BFF and her two daughters met us at Downtown Disney. We had a blast and it was like no time had past. That evening we spent dining with princesses at Ariel's Grotto. On Monday our beach plans were changed to the mall due to the weather and then we went to Old Town Pasadena and our friend's house nearby.
Tuesday we headed to one of my favorite places on Earth--San Diego. We went to the famous zoo and had a wonderful day of sunshine and fun. We ended the day by visiting one of my friends from 2nd grade that I had no seen since college. It was fantastic to see her and pick up from where we left off and meet her husband and children.
Wednesday we went back to Disneyland and went to the "old" park and met up with friends from Guatoberfest that we had not seen since 2007 and now they have FOUR gorgeous kiddos! We had a ball watching the kids enjoy the magic together--4 four year olds, a 6 year old, and a one year old. Quite a lot of excitement!
Thursday we had a perfect beach day and drove to Newport Beach and Balboa Pier and then had dinner at Roy's in Gardenwalk for our last night in CA. What a great way to end a fabulous week! Friday morning we went to the airport and had two smooth flights with sleeping children and landed in Boston early. We stayed over in Boston and went to Natick before back to CT. What a wonderful week of family time and memories!
