Even though there is snow on the ground, it was 50 degrees on 1/1/11 with no wind or chill.

Happy new year from Savannah!
We did something very different to ring in 2011. We went to Wachusette Mountain in Mass. They had a family oriented New Year's celebration. We stayed at an inn with all suites and had a great time. We left on Thursday afternoon after Rich worked a 1/2 day and went to dinner at the Olive Garden (we did not know anywhere else). The next day Rich took Savannah to the mountain for her first group ski lesson with the Polar Kids. The pictures of that are on the iPhone I will post them when he uploads them. She did really well for her first time back on the mountain and in a group and not a private lesson. At first she did not want to go, but then she did and had fun. Seth and Mommy went to the mall and had a great day too. He slept for an hour and a half so Mommy got to shop and go to Panera and then he got up we went on a train ride around the mall, played in the soft play area and went on the coin operated rides, but Seth doesn't need them to move. He just likes to climb on and off. I also took him into Chuckee Cheese. He said he wanted to go, but then when we went in and there were so many kids and birthday parties, he got afraid. So we left. That is a-ok with Mommy and Daddy, but Savannah loves Chuckee Cheese.
When Savannah and Daddy were done skiing they picked us up at the mall and we went back to the Inn to change and get ready for dinner. We had a delicious, perfectly paced, meal at the Inn in their cozy pub. Everyone behaved well and enjoyed the dinner. Then we changed again back into snow gear and went up to the mountain for night skiing, tubing, fireworks, live music and a balloon drop. The tubing was sold out, but I am not sure that Seth would have done it (on my lap of course). I showed it to him and at first he said no he wouldn't do it and then he said yes. We will try it another time which isn't so busy. Daddy took Savannah night skiing and Seth and Mommy watched. As we watched Seth was pointing at the snowboarders and said, "Me, me." I asked him three times if he wants to snowboard when he gets bigger and he said, "Yes." I showed him skiing twice and asked him if he wants to do that when he gets bigger and he said, "No." Daddy said Seth is on his own if he is going to snowboard.
We watched the fantastic fireworks at 10 p.m. Savannah is terrified of fireworks and cannot tolerate the noise. So Rich took her in the lodge. Seth, on the other hand, loved the fireworks. He kept saying, oooo, pitty (pretty) and Wow. When they were done and everyone cheered, he said, "More." This is the first time I have ever watched fireworks in the winter, in a cold place, standing on the snow. We did watch them on 4th of July in San Fran in Giardelli and it was COLD but it wasn't snowing. And we have seen them in Disney in December, but it was kind of unusual to see them in full winter gear, surrounded by people skiing and snowboarding and standing in the snow.
After the fireworks, I took Seth inside and Rich and Savannah skiied until 11 p.m. Seth made lots of friends in the lodge and people asked him if he skiied and he said, "yes." People thought he was so cute. They had the lodge decorated for new year's eve with balloons and 2011 signs. There was live music and it was very festive. We left about 11:30 p.m. to go back to Inn to watch the ball drop and count down and have our special treat of chocolate covered strawberries. That is everyone's favorite in our family. We made it back with 10 minutes to go and rang in 2011 all together. That is what is important.
The next day we packed up to head out and grabbed some late breakfast at Panera and got home about 3 p.m. and unpacked and got settled back in. Today we are going to Mohegan Sun to see the Harlem Globetrotters. I am excited because I have always wanted to see them and I think the kids will love it.
