Last Day in CA--LEGOLAND!

 There was an area called MiniWorld that had all the major cities done in Legos.  It was amazing and Seth was mesmorized.  I could post 1000 pictures of it.

We took the red eye out of LAX at 11:45 p.m. on Monday, so we had the entire day to enjoy in Southern CA before heading back.  Not only did we spend the day at Legoland, which is amazing and I highly recommend it, we got to meet our friends for the first time after knowing them on the Internet for 3 years.  I met Yolanda on ebay and we just became instant friends and started exchanging e-mails, blogging together and then got on Facebook together and now finally met and the rest is history.  Our families got along so well and they are such special, sweet, wonderful people.  Yolanda's girls are 3 and 5, so Savannah is smack dab in the middle.  We had so much fun with them playing, exploring the park, going on rides, and then socializing at dinner at one of our SoCal favorites--The Claim Jumper (because we don't have it here and it brings back memories of when we lived in CA).

What a wonderful way to end a super fun week in CA by meeting friends and going to a new place.  We thank them for driving 6 hours from NoCA to meet up with us.  We will definitely meet up again because we love them and our kiddos all got along so well and had so much fun together.  It was so cute to watch them become instand friends and it warmed my heart to meet Yolanda in person (and her super nice hubby too). 

Our trip home was uneventful with two sleeping kids for all but 20 minutes of the plane ride.  They also slept all the way home.  Wewere tired, but it was worth it.  I just did not like coming home to 19 degrees.  Good bye palm trees and sun and hello gray and cold and clouds.  Can I hibernate for the winter?  Wish we could have stayed in CA!

Nothing takes my breath away like the shores of La Jolla.  There is nothing quite like it with the waves crashing on the shore, the cliffs and the seals in their natural habitat on the beach.  We were meeting our friends Jill in Camden in San Clemente and stopped at La Jolla on the way since we were ready early (that is what Pacific Time does to us).  What a worthwhile stop.  Doesn't matter how many times I see La Jolla.  It is just gorgeous. 

San Clemente downtown has rows of shops and restaurants.  It is so cute and unfortunately we had inclement weather so we couldn't take any photos.  We loved meeting Jill and Camden and were so engaged in conversation we forgot to take any photos.  Just one of the boys.  Camden is so sweet and good and adorable.  And Jill is so warm and friendly.  We loved finally meeting them in person.  Jill and I had fun in the children's boutique across the street.  What a great store.

On our way back to San Diego we stopped to see my friend and her family for dinner.  She is my friend from THIRD grade.  Her family moved to CA when we were in high school and then we went to Rutgers together and then she moved back to CA.  Facebook got us back in touch and now we saw her twice in CA.  Savannah loves her daughter and they had a great time playing together. 

The day ended with an odd Southern California thunderstorm and lightening but we made it back to dry and safe San Diego without a problem.

Nothing else like a CA sunset

Our BFF's from when we used to live in CA met us in DelMar.  My friend Sheryl got me through Rich's residency by sharing her friendship and her family when mine was so far away.  Her son is based at Camp Pendleton, so they were in the area and we were lucky enough to spend the afternoon together after Rich's conference finished up.  We had not been to DelMar in about 10 years, so it was more built up, but also more beautiful than I remembered.  We ate at an Italian Restaurant on the third floor so we had an amazing view.  We ate on the patio and had delicious food with wonderful company.  Sheryl's girls, Marissa and Lexi are incredible with children and helped and entertained the little ones all day.  Sheryl was watching her grandson, Levi, while his Dad was at the base,  and he is the same age as Seth.  We had tons of fun reminscing and browsing through the shops in the village and ending the great day with Starbucks--all of our favorite. So glad we could make this trip and see special friends.
