So adorable

May started off with a glorious day (very few and far between), so we took advantage of our season pass and went back to the aquarium to see the outside exhibits since the last time it was snowing and raining and very cold.  This time is was sunny, but the sea breeze made it 10 degrees colder than home (at least) and we were a bit unprepared.  It was still a lovely day to be outside.  We saw the penguins, the whales, the sea lions, turtle, tadpoles and a very special treat of tropical birds that was a free special exhibit for members.  The kids loved it since they got to feed the birds birdseed off a stick.  Savannah got a bird perched on her stick.  Lots of fun and excitement.  Afterward we went out for a great dinner at the Steak Loft where there is a super salad bar and the kids just sat next to each other and started laughing.  We don't know about what, but it was awfully cute. 

They have been having fun in between the raindrops playing on the playscape too.  But, we have not had a very nice spring.  Except for a handful of days, it has been cold and raining.   Next weekend for Mother's Day we were considering going to NJ/NY but we decided to stay local and go to Westbrook to the Water's Edge and outlet shopping.  Then the next weekend is Savannah's dance recital. 

We are going to Lake Placid on June 10-12 for Rich to run the Lake Placid 1/2 marathon.

At school listening to a story for character day.  Did not want to take a lot of photos and distract her. 

Last Week, in Oak Grove Montessori tradition, it was Character Day.  It child, if they chose to, was to dress up as their favorite storybook character and bring in the book and bring three clues as to who they were.  Savannah chose to be Pinkalicious.  I had a dress made for her and she made her crown and wand and brought a unicorn stuffed animal to be Goldilicious, Pinkalicious's pet.  She looked adorable and I stayed for part of their presentation and parade.  It was precious.  She had a great time dressing up and being her favorite story book character for a day. 

The next day Savannah had gymnastics and then her 5 year old well child check up.  She is 42 lbs. and 42 inches.  She is right in the 50th percentile for both.  It is amazing how that tiny baby has caught up on the American charts.  She is extremely healthy and growing at a normal rate.  Last year she was 37 lbs and 39 inches.  And at 3 was 31 lbs and 35 inches.  So she is at the same steady pace.  She is our awesome girl.  She got the last of her vaccination boosters and now is all caught up until she is 11--no more shots (since she gets flu mist).  She is very happy about that and that is a long time away.  She was extremely dramatic and worked how brave she was for 2 days.  5 was way worse than 4, because at 4 she couldn't anticiapte anything because she did not remember from age 18 months and now she is totally aware and knows what is going on and has lots of language and expression.  But, we all lived through it and will go on to be happy and healthy.  We of course then went to Applebees (Savannah's favorite) and for ice cream.  The sweetest things though were that when her doctor asked her who her best friend was she said, "Seth," and at the end when she got to pick two stickers, she pick one her and one for Seth and she gave Seth his as soon as we got home.

Savannah's dance recital is coming up in 2 weeks and she gets to wear make up.  We went to Sephora to pick out her pink eyeshadow, blush and lipstick.  She is very excited and loved the big deal they made over her there and how cute she is. The sales associate that helped us and put her make up on said this was the most fun she ever had at work.  Unfortunately, I did not get any pictures since I was holding Seth who thought Sephora was way too interesting to stay in the stroller and thought it would be fun take out all the pallets if I put him down.  She loved wearing make up and we went out to dinner she said, "How am I going to eat and drink and not mess up my pink lipstick."  I told her that is why we bought it so we can reapply it and wear it again and again.  Then after her bath she looked and the mirror and said, "My pink make up is all gone."  Again I told her she can wear it another day since we bought it and it is suppose to wash off at the end of the day.  I have a little diva on my hands. 

Speaking of princesses, we were not into the Royal Wedding at all, but were watching some highlights and I told Savannah this a a real princess getting married.  Her response was, "Is it Rapunzel?"  She watched the bride enter and then declared, "No it isn't Rapunzel.  Can I watch my show?"  And that was the end of that.

We have been wanting to take the kids, especially Savannah to the Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory in Massachusetts.  I heard was was amazing to see butterflies flying around and the other tropical animals.  So, I was so pleased to find out they were open on Easter.  We went yesterday on a rainy day in New England, which has been everyday this spring.  It is 80 plus degrees in the conservatory with high humidity, so Savannah was happy to wear her summer butterfly outfit.  When you pull up the place doesn't look like much, but it is magical inside.  The kids were in awe of the butterflies, birds, turtles and more.  A butterfly landed on Savannah's shoe and Seth's head.  The flowers were beautiful and the ponds, music, and waterfalls relaxing.  They had places to sit and enjoy the beauty and take in nature.  We will look forward to going back after Memorial Day when the outside exhibits are also open.  The kids were so well behaved and followed all the rules of being quiet, not touching, no running, etc.  They just appreciated what they were seeing and experiencing.  It was amazing.  We all loved it and found it very special and beyond expectations.  

After the butterflies we went to the Olive Garden for an early dinner.  3:30 p.m. on Easter was a time we did not have to wait.  We were going to go somewhere else but they did not open until 5 p.m. and we were all starving.  We had a good time and the day worked out wonderfully.  Oh, but both children were afraid to go see the Easter Bunny.  Oh well.  Not surprised.  Maybe one day.

And, as you saw from the previous post, we had a special surprise when we got home.  Savannah lost her first tooth!  Magic all around.

Showtime!

We had a very special treat to celebrate Seth's Embassy Day.  Max and Ruby came to our local theater and both our children LOVE the show.  Seth says, "MAX."  He loved it and was very invovled in the show.  They made it a musical so there was a lot of music and dancing.  They also had the voices down pat.  It was very cute and the kids had fun and that is what matters. 

They had so much fun they both fell asleep in the car on the way home.
