Ready to Dance

When she first came out to show me her ballet costume as a flower
 Pretty blooming flower

Can you say Hip Hop MEOW!
Little kitty

I am not even going to go into the fiasco over the dance costumes and how upset all the moms are that these are not the original costumes that we paid for, but something happened with the costume company and the director had to scramble at the last minute.  It doesn't matter.  Little kids are cute no matter what and look adorable.  What matters is that they have fun.  So the theme of the dance recital is Alice and Wonderland and Savannah is a flower for her ballet portion and a cat for her Hip Hop portion.  She is very excited and I just hope she will put the costume on.  He dance instructors, who she loves, put them on at dance.  But when I showed them to Rich and brought them out she said, "Those are itchy."  So, if she won't put them on for me, I will have dress her at the recital backstage with her friends and hopefully the peer pressure will set in and she will put it on for just a little while to dance on stage.

I am very excited for her first recital and Savannah loves dance, so it is the first of many I am sure.

We had a glorious time Mother's Day weekend even if the weather was less than glorious.  The joy in my heart and love in my world makes everything perfect.

I was very dissapointed that Savannah's school did nothing to celebrate Mother's Day--not a tea, not a card, not a project, not even an acknowledgment, so after seeing all my friends and there fun I found a Princess Mother's Day Tea for us to attend.  The Mark Twain House (in Hartford CT) was holding the gala event.  Savannah got dressed up as Rapunzel and off we went for an afternoon of tea (pink lemonade), treats, desserts, snacks, children's theater and two authors reading a book.  It was so well done, very crowded, and super fun for all attending.  Savannah last ALMOST the whole time in her dress before declaring it "ITCHY" and changing almost in the middle of the hall.  She does not care for any elastic or alternative fabrics.  Then we went for any early dinner to Max Fish and I had the most delicious crab cake ever and key lime tart.  What a great start.

The next day (actual Mother's Day) we had reservations at the Water's Edge, right on the Long Island Sound, for Mother's Day brunch/lunch/dinner.  It was a huge buffet of everything you could imagine and mroe, but my favorite was that they had a chef making crepes.  Yum.  We also did some outlet shopping (Seth is not a shopper but Savannah is) and tried to enjoy the grounds of the resort between the raindrops and storm clouds.  It was a perfect and wonderful day and I am so blessed.

So adorable

May started off with a glorious day (very few and far between), so we took advantage of our season pass and went back to the aquarium to see the outside exhibits since the last time it was snowing and raining and very cold.  This time is was sunny, but the sea breeze made it 10 degrees colder than home (at least) and we were a bit unprepared.  It was still a lovely day to be outside.  We saw the penguins, the whales, the sea lions, turtle, tadpoles and a very special treat of tropical birds that was a free special exhibit for members.  The kids loved it since they got to feed the birds birdseed off a stick.  Savannah got a bird perched on her stick.  Lots of fun and excitement.  Afterward we went out for a great dinner at the Steak Loft where there is a super salad bar and the kids just sat next to each other and started laughing.  We don't know about what, but it was awfully cute.

They have been having fun in between the raindrops playing on the playscape too.  But, we have not had a very nice spring.  Except for a handful of days, it has been cold and raining.   Next weekend for Mother's Day we were considering going to NJ/NY but we decided to stay local and go to Westbrook to the Water's Edge and outlet shopping.  Then the next weekend is Savannah's dance recital.

We are going to Lake Placid on June 10-12 for Rich to run the Lake Placid 1/2 marathon.
