I had a beautiful and wonderful Mother's Day with my family. My first one as Mommy of 2 was very special. We went to a lovely country inn and had a fantastic meal with stellar service. That always makes it so much more pleasant. They catered to Savannah and Seth slept on my lap, so I ate with one hand and Rich cut up my food (and Savannah's). Everything was delcious and the day was delightful. The sun was out and it was a bit cool and breezy, but at least there was sunshine. We have not seen much of that.

I was pampered to the nines. My dad sent me pink roses and lillies. My aunt sent me a Willow Tree figure of parents with a baby called "A Miracle," which we certainly have two of those. Rich, Savannah and Seth got me a fluffy pink robe and lavender bath products from Crabtree and Evelyn. Wow! Lucky Mommy!

Happy Mother's Day

My wonderful family--when I count my blessings I count these three TWICE!!!! I have gotten quite a gift this Mother's Day. A new life has entered our world, our hearts, and our family. I have the distinct honor to be called mother by two children. I am surely blessed. Through the sleepless night, the joy, the tears, and memories and the moments you will never forget like the first steps, the first words, a warm embrace, and those tender moments of your child peacefully sleeping on your shoulder. These years will pass fast and we will watch these amazing children grow up, develop, and emerge into incredible adults. We are here to nuture, to guide, and love them every step of the way. Here is a excerpt from my parenting class that I took that is very true. Enjoy! There are no requriements for this job. We don't need to pass a test or know someone at the top. We're parents because we want to be parents. That's the only requirement. Once we have the job we realize that we are unprepared for it and we are forced to learn how to do it by doing. Experience is our teacher. We get through the days and weeks and months by simply doing the best we can, doubting that we are equal to the task. It helps to remember that we are not alone. If we seem to be on overload as parents--in over our heads--we should remember that others before and since, including our own parents, felt the same way. Wishing all my dear friends and moms a very Happy Mother's Day!

Friends and Family

We have had the wonderful opportunity to have family and friends come visit us over the past two weeks. We had some local visitors and my aunt came for a few days too and was a lifesaver and got to bond with the kiddos!!!! We had lots of fun and spent quality time together.

Seth has had several visitors over the last few days. We had some friends over and are seeing more this weekend. We love sharing our children with those we love. Also, a few photos from when my aunt was here helping me out and being my lifeline.

Seth's 8 Weeks and We Are Home in CT 8 Days

We are having a great time anc can't believe that Seth is 8 weeks today. Time is going fast. It is amazing how quickly he is growing up and changing every day. He is adjusting great and went to the pediatrician and weighs in at a whopping 10 lbs 12 1/2 oz, is 22 1/2 inches long. The doctor said he is very healthy. He received his two month vaccinations and took them like a champ. A few quick tears and no reaction afterwards, so we were very happy. He will get his 2nd Hep B vaccine at the end of the month and then go back at 4 months. We had some friends visit last weekend and my aunt came and spent three days with us. She was a lifesaver playing and bonding with Savannah and watching her while we took Seth to the doctor. She even did middle of the night feedings and helped me so much. We loved having her here and hope she comes back soon. Otherwise just hanging out and adjusting to life as a family of four and waiting for the weather to get nice. We have had lots of rain. Savannah also had another visit at Oak Grove School where she will attend in the Fall and loves it and gave her future teacher a hug. Now we just have to get on the ball with potty training. She has been doing lots of sitting and tellling us she has to go, but no going. She understands though and knows she has to go on the potty to go to school and says she wants to wear big girl pants. I think she is close. Her personality is that one day she will just "do it" and never turn back. Here are our two little loves...

Boppy's Are the World's BEST Invention!

Ok, I praise the person/company that came up with the Boppy and marketed it. And secondly I thank sincerely my friend Trish who gave me one. I love it and so does Seth. It makes life with a newborn so much easier and more comfortable. It is great for feeding, sleeping (him, not us, but the thought has crossed our mind), calming, hanging out, tummy time, etc. I just love it. I think I am going to get another one for upstairs/downstairs and maybe one for travel. If I knew how awesome it was I would have brought it to Japan. Little things make me so excited these days. We are still struggling with the jet lag, a newborn, and now had to add Rich being on call for the weekend to the mix. Of course, whenever Seth was sleeping the beeper was going off like crazy and visa versa. So, we basically had no sleep from 12:30 a.m. to 4:30 when Seth was up for a feeding and then Savannah got up at 4:45 a.m. and Rich left for the hospital at 5:15 a.m. He has twelve patients to round on, so he will be there all day and I am home with both children. Needless to say on 4 hours of sleep, I am not a happy camper. I have never been thrilled with his new job and now am even less enthralled. Something is going to have to give. I have found someone to help me over the summer, but I have to make it until then. She is a teacher with no summer job, but she said she can help me out after school until school ends if I need it. She is a dear friend and I used to teach with her and she is awesome with children and I love her like sister. That is the only type of person I would ever trust to be in my house and around my children. I don't trust anyone with them. Seth went back to sleep from 6:05 a.m. to 6:55 a.m. and now just went back to sleep again at 8:25 a.m. but he will want a bottle soon, so I don't have much time, so I thought I would blog quickly. Savannah has not taken any nap or rest, but she did sleep from 6:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. The day before she slept from 4:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. and the day before that from 3:00 p.m. to midnight and back to sleep at 5:00 a.m. for an hour. Poor thing is all mixed up and so are we. Well, I did not have as much time as I thought. There is the hunger cry. The plumber is on his way for the leaky valve in the basement. Then, I am going to brave it and go to Starbucks.
