Ok, they are out of order, but thanks to Picasa Web Albums I was at least able to get pictures of our weekend on the blog without it taking hours and then no even loading.
For Memorial Day weekend my dad and Sheila came on Saturday and stayed through Tuesday. We celebrated my dad's birthday, which was on the 26th. The first night we went out to Joey Garlic's, an Italian restaurant we had been wanting to try. They had a 1/2 hour wait so we took some picutres in the beautiful weather outside while waiting. The food was good, but the service was slow (but friendly) and we were starving. The portions were huge and we took a lot home. The next day we got up early and boarded the ferry to go to Block Island, Rhode Island. I was very disappointed that it was humid and foggy at home and at the ferry terminal, but the weather on the Island was totally different--bright sun, blue skies, and a light and comfortable sea breeze. Savannah enjoyed the ride on the ferry a lot with her frozen lemonade, but Seth not so much. Motion doesn't always agree with him and by the end of the ride he was not enjoying the rocking and fell asleep on my lap, woke up and got sick all over me. Poor baby. Luckily we were almost there so the ferry slowed and docked, we got off, put Seth and the stroller and he slept and then Mommy went shopping and was attired in Block Island resort clothes and Seth took a nice nap as we ate and walked to the playground. When he got up he felt fine and refreshed and had so much fun playing on the playground and the beach. We had a full day on the island before boarding the 7:50 p.m. ferry back to CT. We walked, shopping, ate and played. Such a great day. Before getting back on the ferry we gave Seth some Dramamine and he was happy and motion sickness free, but it wired him so he was very energetic and full of fun and giggles the whole way back. Much better than being sick though.
The next day we were planning a beach day, but we had terrible thunderstorms in the morning and they did not clear out until the afternoon so we decided to spend the day in downtown Mystic. We walked around the little shops, went to the toy store, saw the drawbridge go up and down, walked around the river and ate dinner and had ice cream. We ended the evening at Starbucks and then headed home. A wonderful summer Memorial Day.
On Tuesday Savannah went back to school and my Dad and Sheila left to go back to NJ. No matter how many days the visit is always too short and goes too fast.
Savannah only has 6 days left of school. It is amazing to think that she is almost a kindergartener. She is going to be in her dance school's production of Rudolph this winter and practice starts over the summer. She is going to be an elf along with her other friends from her dance class. She will continue practicing in the Fall along with her ballet and hip hop combo class. We have quite a little dancer. Her gymnastics class ends on June 17th and then she will be taking Tumbling in the summer. She will also take swimming lessons at the lake.
Seth is doing amazing with his language blossoming day by day and he is cute personality and sense of humor emerging daily. He has stopped formal naps and is enjoying the nice weather. He loves to swing and go in the wagon and blow bubbles. His newest thing he likes to do is stand on his step stool and help us wash the dishes from dinner. Hey, I am not complaining. I have been looking for someone to take over that task. LOL!
